Did God Guide Our Evolution?

What was God's role in bringing about our species? Did God simply create the initial conditions and let things evolve naturally without further guidance? Or did God intervene in this process to ensure the right kind of creatures would evolve? Are there other options to consider? I'll review several of these and develop the theory that the question is poorly formed, blending together objective scientific concepts with subjective personal ones. Instead, I'll propose that science and theology are different ways of knowing, and neither gives the whole story of events like our creation. Along the way, I'll address god of the gaps arguments, and draw from my recent book, The Sacred Chain: How Understanding Evolution Leads to Deeper Faith.
